About this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Neat Painting & Decorating (ABN 49633570662) (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information through this website and when you contact us about our painting and decorating services.

We aim to handle personal information responsibly and in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). By using this website or sending us an enquiry, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you send an enquiry through a form on this website, we collect:

  • your first and last name
  • your phone number
  • your email address
  • the type of property and the service you are interested in, if you choose to tell us
  • anything you write in your message, such as details about your project

If you contact us by phone or email, we collect the information you choose to share with us, such as your contact details, your property address and details of the work you would like done.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the website, some technical information is collected automatically, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the website that referred you, and the date and time of your visit. Some of this is recorded by our website hosting provider as part of normally running the website, and some is collected through the analytics tools described below.

Information we do not ask for

We do not ask for sensitive information (such as health information) or payment card details through this website. Please do not include that kind of information in a message.

How we collect information

We collect personal information:

  • when you submit the enquiry form on our contact page or the quote request form on the website
  • when you phone or email us
  • automatically, through our website hosting provider when you visit the website
  • through the website analytics tools described in this policy

Enquiries submitted through the website are sent to us by email. They are not stored in a database on the website.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. The website itself does not set any cookies of its own.

We use Google services that may set cookies or use similar technologies to understand how the website is used. These are described in the next section.

The website also stores a small note in your browser’s session storage to remember whether the “Get a Free Quote” pop-up has already been shown or closed during your visit, so it does not keep reappearing. This does not identify you and is cleared when you close the browser tab or window.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you do, the website will still work, although some analytics information may not be recorded.

Website analytics

We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, services provided by Google. These help us understand how visitors find and use the website, such as which pages are viewed and how people move between them, so we can improve it.

Google may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser details and your interactions with the website, and may use cookies to do so. Google’s handling of this information is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting information about your visits by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Why we collect and use information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiries and questions
  • prepare and provide quotes
  • communicate with you about your project, including arranging site visits and scheduling work
  • provide the painting and decorating services you ask us for
  • operate, maintain and secure the website, including detecting and preventing spam and misuse of the enquiry forms
  • understand how the website is used so we can improve it
  • keep business records and meet our legal, tax and insurance obligations
  • deal with complaints, warranty matters or disputes

We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers and sharing

We share personal information with service providers only where it is needed to run the website and our business. These currently include:

  • Resend, an email delivery service. When you submit an enquiry form, the details you enter are passed to Resend so they can be delivered to us by email.
  • Our business email provider, which receives and stores those enquiry emails and our correspondence with you.
  • Vercel, our website hosting provider, which processes website requests and technical information such as IP addresses.
  • Sanity, the content management system we use to publish the website’s content. Images on the website are delivered from Sanity’s content delivery network, which receives standard technical information (such as your IP address) when your browser loads them. Enquiries are not sent to or stored in Sanity.
  • Google, for the analytics services described above.

We may also disclose personal information to our professional advisers, insurers, or where we are required or authorised to do so by law, or with your consent.

Storage outside Australia

Some of the service providers listed above are based overseas or use data centres outside Australia, such as in the United States. This means personal information may be stored or processed outside Australia. We use established providers and only share the information needed for the purpose described.

How we protect information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. For example, the website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and the enquiry form includes measures to reduce spam and automated misuse.

No method of transmitting or storing information over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information you send to us online.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purposes it was collected for, including providing quotes and services, honouring warranties, maintaining business records, meeting legal, tax and insurance obligations, and resolving disputes. When it is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete it or de-identify it.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Please contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. If we cannot give you access or make a correction, we will explain why where we are able to.

Children

This website is intended for adults arranging painting and decorating work. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through it. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will deal with it appropriately.

Privacy concerns and complaints

If you have a question or concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details below. Tell us what happened and how you would like the matter resolved. We will look into it and respond within a reasonable time.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the Australian Government’s privacy regulator, at www.oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we change the services used on the website. The updated version will be published on this page with a new “last updated” date.
